Pinterest Says 2026 Is the Year of Ditching Digital Noise for Hands-On Hobbies and Personal Pursuits

Screens have claimed enough of our attention. In 2026, people seem ready to spend more time making, mixing, collecting, baking, brewing, and building something they can actually touch. Pinterest’s 2026 Hobbies Trend Report points to a clear shift toward personal pursuits that feel physical, creative, and refreshingly offline.

The report draws on Pinterest’s internal global search data, comparing May 2026 with May 2025. The numbers suggest people want more than attractive images saved to digital boards. They want hobbies that produce something tangible, create satisfying routines, and make everyday life feel more personal.

Pinterest’s findings capture that mood through several distinctive trends. “Kitchen Witch,” “Home Café Engineering,” and “Weekend Equestrian” are among the standouts. Other rising interests, including “Curated Clutter,” “Cosmic Reset,” and “Secondhand Sidequest,” reinforce the same message. Personal hobbies are becoming less about looking polished online and more about enjoying the process offline.

The Kitchen Is Becoming a Creative Workshop

Think fermenting vegetables, infusing oils, preserving fruit, baking bread, blending spices, or tending a kombucha starter. These activities make the kitchen feel active rather than staged for a perfect social media photo.

The visual side still matters, but it now supports the activity instead of replacing it. Dark glass bottles, drying herbs, beeswax wraps, hand-labeled jars, and homemade ingredients give the kitchen a lived-in character. Pinterest connects the look with the cozy, slightly mystical atmosphere associated with “Practical Magic,” and the company has partnered with Warner Bros. to highlight the trend around “Practical Magic 2.”

Search behavior shows how quickly the interest is growing. Pinterest reports that searches for “herbal apothecary” jumped 595%. Homemade spice blends, canning recipes, beeswax wraps, and fermentation projects are also attracting attention from people who want to make useful things themselves.

Home Cafés Turn Coffee Into a Serious Hobby

Coffee is also getting a more elaborate home treatment. Pinterest’s “Home Café Engineering” trend takes the familiar coffee corner and turns it into a personal café. People are experimenting with flavored syrups, cold foam, dessert-style lattes, specialty glasses, handwritten menus, and carefully arranged coffee stations.

The search numbers are striking. Searches for “banana syrup recipe for coffee” rose 916% , while “coffee station ideas party” climbed 624%. Those figures suggest the interest extends beyond owning an attractive espresso machine. People want to learn techniques, invent drinks, and create an experience around serving them.

Hosting plays an important role here. A home café gives friends a reason to gather without the planning required for a formal dinner. Someone can make iced lattes, put pastries on the table, and spend an afternoon talking. The setting feels thoughtful without becoming stiff or overly planned.

Regular café visits can become expensive, especially when specialty drinks enter the order. Learning how to make flavored lattes or cold foam at home turns that expense into a skill. The equipment might start the hobby, but experimentation keeps people interested.

This “cafécore” movement also fits a broader interest in slower routines at home. People are designing rooms around small rituals rather than pure efficiency. The kitchen counter becomes a café station, the dining table becomes a meeting place, and an ordinary cup of coffee becomes a reason to stop rushing.

Weekend Equestrian Style Brings the Stable Home

Pinterest reports a 1,109% rise in searches for “barn jacket women.” Interest in rosette ribbons climbed an enormous 3,81%. Those numbers show that the familiar “horse girl” look has moved beyond a niche fashion reference and into the wider 2026 hobby conversation.

The appeal is not limited to clothing. Equestrian culture carries associations with outdoor routines, physical skill, craftsmanship, and time spent away from screens. Even people who never step into a saddle can borrow elements of that world through clothing, décor, collecting, or weekend activities.

That same desire for personality runs through trends such as “Curated Clutter” and “Secondhand Sidequest.” Instead of buying a matching set in one click, people are hunting for objects with character.
